22nd Connecticut Women's Open

ELIGIBILITY: In addition to a player's agreement to abide by the CSGA General Tournament Policies, the following criteria is required:

 

Female Professional and Amateur Golfers:

  • Amateur golfers must have an active USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 15.0

  • Amateur Entry Fee - $125

 

  • Professional Entry Fee - $225

 


COVID-19 STATE OF CT TRAVEL ADVISORY: As of March 19, 2021, the State's travel advisory regarding COVID-19 is no longer in effect. Connecticut residents and travelers to Connecticut should follow travel related guidance from the CDC and the CT Department of Public Health. CHAMPIONSHIP PROPER INFORMATION:

 

Format: All players will play 18-holes of stroke play on both Monday, June 7th and Tuesday, June 8th.  Round two pairings will be based on round one scores.  The player with the low 36-hole total will be declared the Conn. Women's Open Champion. Tee times will begin at 8:00am and will continue until approximately 12:00pm both days.


Transportation & Caddies: Players may walk, carry their own bag, utilize a caddie or use a golf cart for this Championship. Minors without a driver's license may not operate a golf cart. The cost for a golf cart is not included in the entry fee. Players will pay for a cart the morning of the event in the Pro Shop, cash or check only, no credit cards. Caddies are permitted to ride with their player in the golf cart.  


Purse & Prizes: The winner will have her name permanently engraved on the Valerie Bulkeley Trophy.  The winner and runner-up will receive keepsake trophies. The size and composition of the final field will determine the full professional purse and amateur merchandise credit prize distribution.


Practice Round: Practice rounds are available after 1:00pm on May 22-24,29,30 and June 1,5,6.  Call the Pro Shop at 860-434-2038 to schedule.  Cost is $40 pp with cart, cash or check only, no credit cards. Estimated yardage for the Championship is 5790, and represents a combination of play from the silver, white and blue tees.


Food & Beverage: A luncheon buffet will be available to the players from 11:30am-4:00pm on both days and is included in your entry fee. Coffee will be available in the morning. Spectators and caddies are welcome to purchase lunch for $25, inclusive of tax and gratuity, cash or check only, no credit cards.


Accommodations: Due to Covid concerns and restrictions, there is no host hotel recommendation for this event.  Common hotel chains can be found in the Old Saybrook community adjacent to Old Lyme. There is a limited amount of host housing with members of the Black Hall Club.  To make arrangements, please call the Head Golf Professional, Andrew Campbell at 860-434-2038.


We Are the Fifty State Jr. Championship: Performance in the Conn. Women's Open will be used in the criteria selection for the CT Junior girl invitees to the We Are The Fifty State Jr. Championship.  Read about this event in the Player Information section of this tournament portal.


Withdrawals & Refunds: Refund less $25.00 administrative fee if requested prior to entry deadline. 50% refund after entry deadline and seven days prior to the event. Within seven days prior to the event there will be no refund. 

 

All players are expected to complete the competition which they start.  Acceptable reasons for withdrawal during a competition are physical injury, illness, or an emergency.  Poor play is not an acceptable reason for withdrawal.  A player who withdraws without an acceptable reason or without notifying CSGA personnel will be subject to suspension from future CSGA competitions.  If a player is aware of a possibility of withdrawal (e.g. injury) he should notify the CSGA as soon as possible.

All players who start a round must return a scorecard personally to CSGA staff or a CSGA official even if they are officially withdrawing. Players who withdraw also must sign and attest that the hole by hole scores are correct for the fellow-competitor's scorecard they were keeping and return that card to the fellow-competitor or another marker in the group. Players who do not follow this policy will be subject to suspension from future CSGA competitions.


Conditions of Entry: By submitting an entry for any CSGA-administered competition, the contestant understands that their participation is at the sole discretion of the CSGA. A contestant may be removed from any competition at the discretion of the CSGA staff or Competitions Committee at any time before or during the competition. Incidents of unbecoming conduct or actions deemed to be detrimental to the image of the CSGA or the “Spirit of the Game” are grounds for such removal and suspension from future CSGA-administered competitions. These include, but are not limited to the following: 

1) Willful damage of the golf course or golf course property 
2) Club throwing or unnecessary club tossing 
3) Offensive or unbecoming language 
4) Public criticism of golf course or verbal abuse of CSGA staff, officials, volunteers, host club staff or other contestants 
5) Potential endangerment of others 
6) Conduct deemed unbecoming
